Christantus Uche Sparks Dominant Palace Victory at Irish Side Shelbourne.
Despite entering their maiden European adventure, Oliver Glasner's side are adapting at a rapid pace. Without star players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the London club left Dublin with a comfortable result that virtually guarantees them a spot in the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds.
A further three points in their upcoming fixture against Finnish KuPS should be sufficient to seal straight passage to the last 16, particularly following a prior setback against Strasbourg.
Fringe Players Grasp the Moment
This match provided a platform for some of Palace's fringe players to shine. Christantus Uche, making only his second start after joining on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a well-taken goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, scoring for the second game in match.
The Shelbourne side that had concluded their domestic season proved no match against a largely rotated Palace lineup. The Londoners were already depleted by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg problems.
Control Established from the Start
Despite heavy rain in Dublin, Palace quickly established dominance. A flowing move in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, let Nketiah to lay on Uche for a straightforward tap-in.
Midfielder Adam Wharton came close minutes later, driving a long-range effort over the bar. Nketiah subsequently appealed for a penalty after bursting into the area, but the official dismissed the protests.
The formerArsenal striker didn't need to wait long to find his goal, tapping home from a yard out after Uche's effort had struck the post.
Shelbourne were hanging on for dear life. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to escape a booking for two agricultural challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the woodwork with a powerful header from a corner.

The match was as good as over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some comically weak challenges before coolly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.
Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw key players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse came close to scoring with his very first touch, only to see his shot blocked.
Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also missed a glaring chance, showing there is still scope for development in his game.
The only concern for Palace was a second-half injury to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This paved the way for 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise positive night for the visiting side.
