Amazing $30 Map-Making Humble Bundle Is a Virtual Tabletop GM's Dream

Following a brief run earlier this year, the Map Making Mega Bundle is back for a limited time available until Dec. 2. Described as a "treasure trove of assets and apps" developed by a specialized software company throughout their history, the entire collection is valued at over $1,300. And there are three different bundles offered in this deal.

The Main Attraction

The big draw is definitely permanent access to the CC3+ software, an industry-standard mapping application which enables users to generate various types including epic fantasy landscapes, smaller regional maps, city maps, and, perhaps most importantly, tactical combat environments.

A regional fantasy map created using Campaign Cartographer 3+.

Package Levels

Entry Level

The cheapest bundle tier, at a minimum cost of $1, features merely four of the 39 total items: Fantasy Overland Symbol Collection, Monster Token Pack 1, Castle Source Maps, Urban Source Maps. This package suits existing CC3+ users, but it does offer fresh fantasy design elements for landscape mapping, over seven hundred fifty creature tokens compatible with online gaming platforms, more than two dozen top-down castle layouts including hundreds of map markers, eight complete urban centers, plus seventy-plus building interiors.

Intermediate Package

The eight-product collection starting at fifteen dollars is where things get more interesting by adding in permanent CC3+ access, Cartographer's Annual Vol 1, Ultimate Mapping Guidebook, Isometric Cities Symbol Pack. Cartographer's Annual is the annual collection from ProFantasy's long-running monthly subscription service featuring multiple CC3+ enhancements like map collections and additional utilities. Isometric Cities lets you present urban areas in 3D perspective with isometric views from all sides. Meanwhile, the Mapping Tome is a 760-page for beginners and "power users" alike, full of tips and tutorials covering cartography techniques.

Complete Collection

Starting at thirty dollars, the 39-item bundle includes all the following:

  • Fractal Terrains 3+
  • Dungeon Designer 3
  • Urban Planning Software
  • Cosmographer 3
  • Viewpoint Enhancement
  • Scene Builder
  • Character Design Module
  • Symbol Set 2: Fantasy Floorplans
  • Symbol Set 3: Modern
  • Schley Dungeon Collection
  • Symbol Set 5: Cities of Schley
  • Token Treasury: Monsters 2
  • Source Maps: Temples, Tombs and Catacombs
  • Historical War Maps
  • World Builder’s Compendium
  • Cartographer’s Annual Vol 1-17
  • Permanent CC3+ Access
  • Symbol Set 6: Isometric Cities
  • Comprehensive Mapping Guide
  • Symbol Set 1: Fantasy Overland
  • Monster Token Set 1
  • Fortress Source Maps
  • Metropolitan Source Maps

All 17 volumes of Cartographer's Annual come with this bundle, plus numerous other resource and asset packs enabling creators to design entire planets or galaxies, or just go all-in on classic fantasy realm creation: combat arenas, underground complexes, cities, and continents in multiple viewpoints. Users can also create character portraits. For $30 as opposed to $15, the full bundle is so worth it, especially for cartographers who have only the annual CC3+ license and want to upgrade to lifetime. However, it's clearly more advantageous for cartography beginners considering you even get the beginners' tutorials to facilitate learning. The one caveat here though you can redeem the deal across platforms, the software is only usable on Windows.

Philanthropic Aspect

Similar to previous bundles, a portion of each sale supports charitable organizations. For this one, the beneficiary is Save the Children, established in 1919 by Eglantyne Jebb focused on improving the lives of children worldwide via educational programs, medical services, and crisis response. The Bundle Filters option appear near the page top, though users may also choose their donation amount on the right side of the page. Additionally available is an "Adjust Donation" drop-down just below that, enabling adjustment of the distribution percentage allocated between the platform, developer, and charity.
